Debian Squeeze (and Ubuntu Netty) ship with a buggy version of syslinux. It's fixed in the new version, but it hasn't showed up in the Debian repos (even backports) yet.

In [2977]:

#606: More bug fixes on build_bootable_USB.sh:

  • Add delimiter to distinguish "our" messages from "theirs"
  • syslinux version 4.02 has broken -s option; check syslinux version first
  • Newer versions of parted warn against using mkpartfs. Using mkfs instead.
  • They also warn that "0Kb ${DRIVE_SIZE}Kb" is a sub-optimal alignment. "1 -1" is apparently better.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed
