Do we actually need an MTA, or can you use something like Net::SMTP?

That's actually what we use, yeah. I'm referring to exim4 and external mail in KNOPPIX. Fixing misleading title...

BCCD can now send mail outside of the network by default. Most of the time it will give an error saying "sendmail process failed," but will send the mail anyway. This is a known bug, and shouldn't be a problem considering most of the mail sending will be automatic and won't be in danger of confusion by erroneous errors.
