Restarting head node's mpd

Description (last modified by fitz)

Restarting the head node's mpd process using the init script causes a new port to be generated and thus renders the compute node's mpd processes "stranded."

Solution: head node keeps with first port.

  • Unknown if a compute node's mpd needs to be bounced if the head node's is.

Confirmed that if you restart the head node's mpd, all other mpds must also be restarted, even if the head node's is staying on the same port.

  • Component set to Both
  • Resolution set to closed
  • Status changed from assigned to closed

Adding a monitor daemon makes everything too brittle. Instead, we'll just rely on an init script to start/stop it when necessary.
